Ivan Kane's Cafe Wa s
Hollywood, California - Nightlife impresario and trendsetter Ivan Kane, of the famed Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce nightclubs in Hollywood and Las Vegas, embarks on his newest venture, Ivan Kane's Café Wa s. The restaurant, scheduled to open in Hollywood in May 2008, goes beyond current trends and offers patrons a portal into Kane's soul. Part restaurant and part piano bar, the space is at once opulent and yet bohemian. Café Wa s boasts hidden lounges, a mysterious balcony turned into a lavish candle display, Doric columns meeting Victorian posts at the mezzanine above and a grand staircase leading nowhere. Guests enter a reflective dream world, sensitive and severe, always seductive and never overt, where they are invited to enjoy delicacies while discovering new talent. The focal point of the space will be the revolving grand piano, featuring Café Wa s' resident musicians as well as surprise guests for unexpected marquee performances.

"I am always compelled to experiment and push the limits of my imagination for visual references," says Kane. "With Café Wa s, the first bite taken will be with the eye. This restaurant is at the forefront of a new type of dining experience."

The Café Wa s menu, created by chef and restaurateur Tim Goodell of Aubergine fame and Dakota restaurant at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, will feature bistro-inspired dishes, such as Steak or moules frites; Onion soup au gratin and the signature IK burger topped with prosciutto, brie and a fried egg. Decadent desserts will include tart au citron; crème caramel and chocolate soufflé. Café Wa s' imported and domestic caviar selection will be served simply with crème fraiche and buttered toast points. The bar will feature classic cocktails and an extensive wine and champagne menu served by-the-glass, bottle or carafe and selected spirits by the flask.

Music at Ivan Kane's Café Wa s will be an experience usually reserved for concert halls. The sound system, by JBL Professional and used in world-renowned performing art centers such as Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, is designed for clarity and acoustic perfection, making it an ideal place for musicians to showcase their work.

The bohemian-chic interiors, created by RKIT Design partners Jason Volenec and Silvia Zofio, designers of New York's newest restaurant sensations Allen & Delancey and Elettaria, as well as collaborations with Serge Becker on projects such as Joe's Pub, La Esquina and the 205 Club, the sensual menu and the pristine sound all converge to allow Ivan Kane's Café Wa s to emerge viscerally, a restaurant where form and function converge with creativity. It inspires.

Ivan Kane's Café Wa s is located at 1521 North Vine Street in Hollywood. It will be open for dinner seven nights a week from 6pm until 2am and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Café Wa s is available for private events. The space holds approximately 200 people with seating for 125 inside and 75 outdoors on the patio. For reservations please call (323)466-5400.

Ivan Kane Enterprises, responsible for renowned Los Angeles hotspots Kane and Deep, also created Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce nightclub and burlesque in Hollywood and Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. Forty Deuce, widely recognized as the gold standard of burlesque, is acknowledged for reinventing and rejuvenating enthusiasm and appreciation for the art of burlesque. Always looking to expand the genre, Kane has created two other burlesque shows for the Vegas venue, Royal Jelly, the hit rock and roll burlesque show and Stormy Monday male burlesque. Bravo documented the Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce opening at Mandalay Bay in the hit four-part reality series, Forty Deuce, directed by Zalman King and executive produced by Kane.

Ivan Kane's Café Wa s is set to redefine the traditional restaurant experience, surely starting a trend that others will strive to follow.
